INFORMATION

Welcome to the Conch House! Who would have thought that a wrong turn would turn us into property owners?    On was our first trip to Gulf Shores and we immediately fell in love with the people, the area, the home, and of course, in our opinion, the nicest sand beaches of any tropical area we had ever visited. After returning home we convinced our son-in-law, Jason, and our granddaughter Sydnie to go back to Gulf Shores with us as we had found our dream vacation home (Sydnie is always our deal maker).  A few weeks later the house was ours, and we  hope you will love it as much as we do. Our home is located on a narrow strip of  sandy land that runs twenty five miles into the Gulf of Mexico ending at Fort Morgan.

If you would like a day trip, take the Ferry from Fort Morgan to Dolphin Island and then up to Mobile, Alabama or just tour the Fort. Before you leave Fort Morgan you must stop at Tacky Jacks just to try a Bushwhacker, (theirs is the best in the area).  This is the adult version of a milkshake and has you wanting just one more. Back in Gulf Shores there is a never ending array of things to keep you on the go; water parks, amusement parks, fishing, golfing, bike riding, hiking, miniature golf, shopping, and the State Park is also a must to experience (see our "favorites" tab under the Good Life in the Home Menu for more of our favorites). Of course, our favorite is a day at the beach with the grandchildren; watching them play in the water, ride the waves, collect treasures from the ocean and their amusement at the  passing dolphins. If you are in for a little fun at night pack a flashlight and chase the ghost crabs on the beach. This is great entertainment for the  whole family. Also from May to October is nesting time for the Giant Sea Turtle. Volunteers work daily to try and mark all new nests. But, please don't disturb or touch any turtles you may find.  Gulf Shores is a "LEAVE ONLY FOOTPRINTS" beach to preserve its beauty. Anything left on the beach will be confiscated and thrown away. When the hunger bug strikes there is  dining to accommodate everyone's taste. Our favorite, for obvious reasons, is sea food!  We always try the "catch of the day" to experience  all the variety the Gulf of Mexico has to offer.  For those that would prefer a  quiet evening at home,  grilling  your "catch of the day" or other favorite food while relaxing with a  refreshing drink is also a great way to wind down after a busy, exciting day. For those who enjoy  music, there are always bands playing at the local establishments. Come enjoy our home, everything Gulf Shores has to offer, and make memories that will last a lifetime!  Please make yourself at home!
